John Sprout

John M.B. Sprout Sr., of Chester, WV, passed away Monday, March 2nd, 2026 at the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born at East Liverpool City Hospital on March 18th, 1954, he was the youngest child of the late Clarence Virgil Sprout, and Sara Mae Williams Sprout.

John was a graduate of the 1972 class at Oak Glen High School. He served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1977.

John worked at TS&T in Chester till it closed, he retired from the Homer Laughlin China on January 31st, 2016. He retired as a Laborer at #8, but spent the majority of his time there as a #5 Kiln Fireman.

John was a faithful member of the Virginia Ave. Church of Christ. He loved his local congregation, his Lord Jesus Christ, and his Father God in Heaven.

John was preceded in death by his 7 older siblings; Shirley Beaver, Lenora Saracco, Wanda Donahue, Robert Sprout, Raymond Sprout, Darlene Rearly, and Carol Sue Gamble.

John leaves behind his loving wife, Sharon M. Sprout, who stood hand in hand with him for 48 loving years of marriage. He also leaves behind his 3 sons: Derek B. Thompson (Pam Thompson) of East Liverpool, OH; John M.B. Sprout Jr. (Kandie Sprout) of Chester, WV; Jason Sprout (Tamara Sprout) of Minerva, OH. Grandchildren: Zachary and Brett Thompson; Joey Wells; Mackenzie, Jordan, and Payton Sprout.

We will celebrate John's life on Friday, March 6, at the Arner Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at Locust Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be held. Friends may visit with his family, Thursday, March 5, from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM and 5:00 PM-7:00 PM.
