Robert Lee "Bob" Sprout

Robert Lee Sprout, 90, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away on August 27, 2025. Robert was born on June 26, 1935, in Pleasant City, Ohio, to Leroy Harold Sprout and Ruth Elnora Wells Sprout.

Robert was devoted to his family. He married Patsy Lou Bowersock on September 25, 1960 at the Lawrence Baptist Church in Dart, Ohio. He has two daughters, Nanette Varnadoe and Kelly Jarabek. He loved being a grandfather to Taylor Varnadoe Bailey, Haley Varnadoe, Benjamin and Timothy Jarabek and great grandson, Oliver Bailey.
Robert was a dedicated member of the Wingett Run Church of Christ for 65 years. He worked as a Manager at Marietta Paint and Color, a Production Manager at Cabot Corporation, a USDA Inspector for District 4 in Ohio, and then as the General Manager at Gallia Rural Water until his retirement. He enjoyed farming during the early years of their marriage at Wingett Run until their move to Marietta. Bob and Patsy traveled to all 50 states plus Canada and Mexico. They spent several winters in LaBelle, Florida where he was able to enjoy his hobby of shing. That love of shing continued in Ohio. He would never turn down an opportunity to go to Lake Erie to sh for Walleye and Perch. Wherever he was, he would make sure that he watched the Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball games.

Robert is survived by his wife, Patsy; daughters Nanette Varnadoe and husband, Perry; Kelly Jarabek and husband, Marty; grandchildren Taylor Bailey and husband, Tim; Haley Varnadoe; Benjamin and Timothy Jarabek; and great grandson, Oliver Bailey; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Louetta Hitchens.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30th at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home, 314 4th Street, Marietta, Ohio from 3:00-7:00. Services will be held on Sunday, August 31st at 2:00 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at East Lawn Cemetery following the services.
