John R. Stack, 82, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 20, 2025, in UPMC Presbyterian. He was born June 13, 1942, in Canonsburg, a son of the late John Stack and Angeline Courie Stack Weir. John was a 1960 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving from October 1960 until October of 1964 with over a year spent overseas. in Egypt and Pakistan. For 29 years, John worked machinist for PA Transformer and Cooper Power Systems in Canonsburg and retired in 2005 from SP Kinney Engineering in Carnegie. Mr. Stack was a member of St. Patrick Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish in Canonsburg. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. On August 14, 1965, he married Joan Caputo who died December 26, 2010. Surviving are three children, Lisa Kruger (Colin) of Harrisburg, John Stack of Nashville, TN and Nicole Lane (Kevin) of Bethel Park; six grandchildren, Meghan Hancock (David), Paige Pfeffer (Jesse), Cameron and Madeleine Stack and Aidan and Nina Lane; a great granddaughter, Bailey Pfeffer; a brother, Kenneth Stack (Ruth) of Chartiers Twp.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, a brother Robert Stack is deceased. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, Owner/Supervisor, 27 Cherry Ave., Houston, PA 15342. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2025, in St. Patrick Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish, 317 W. Pike St., Canonsburg, PA 15317. Interment will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park, Canonsburg.
