John Ray Stacy passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 7, 2025. His gentle departure marked the close of a life grounded in compassion, integrity, and unwavering dedication to others.

John was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on December 31, 1949, to C.R. “Joe” and Josephine Samara Stacy. He graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1968, where he was a leader among his peers. Known for his energy and natural charisma, he served on numerous committees and organizations and was honored widely for his service and involvement.

After high school, John attended Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a degree in Psychology. He received his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University in 1975. John began his legal career under the guidance of his uncle and mentor, Carol Samara. It was his uncle who taught him not only the craft of law, but the profound responsibility that comes with it. John’s purpose as an attorney was always clear: to help those who needed help the most. His clients often became his friends, drawn to his grace, compassion, and steady belief that “good people make mistakes, too.”

After a successful 31-year law career, John shifted his focus and became a founder of Striker Land Services, a company that grew from one hardworking man at his home desk to over 200 landmen supporting oil and gas operations across six offices nationwide. In recent years, wishing to savor a quieter pace, he worked as an independent landman, working from the peaceful comfort of his home.

Those who knew him understood his rare magnetism, his kind heart, his love for others, and the calm, resilient spirit that defined him. He moved through life with a composed and genuine presence that left a lasting imprint on everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.

John is preceded in death by his parents, C.R. and Josephine Stacy, and his sister, Marcia Stacy. He is survived by his sons Brayden, Jake, and Blake Stacy and wife Courtney; his step-daughter Alyssa Heaton and husband Cody; and his step-son Blake Kirby and wife Jerryca. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Harper, Harrison, Jackson, Weston, Kennedy, Hunter, and Halle, who brought him great joy.

The family will greet visitors on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 N. May Avenue in Oklahoma City. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at St. Elijah Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the Flowers That Do Not Wither Fund at St. Elijah Church.
