John Dana Stant, R.Ph., of New Castle, Delaware, died on Friday, August 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Dana graduated from De La Warr High School (1970) and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (1975). Dana was known for his humor, generosity, and fondness for Stant hugs. He enjoyed pickleball, volunteering at the Freeman Center, breakfast with De La Warr alumni, comedy, and music. Dana loved the Beatles, Eric Clapton, and James Brown. Dana was the hardest working man we knew. He worked for many years as a retail pharmacist as well as a hospital pharmacist on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in South Dakota and the Navajo Reservation in Arizona.
Dana was predeceased by his parents, Gene and Dorothy Stant; his sister, Leslie Connors; grandsons, Evan Temler and Grayson Giammatteo; and his longtime friend, Fran Lally. He is survived by Aline Stant; his daughters, Joy Stant (Stephen), Lauren Temler (Keith), and Dana Giammatteo (Nick); his son, John Dana Stant II (Michele); his grandchildren, Colleen Collins (Brandon), Reid and Lane Temler, Braden, Bella, and Jack Giammatteo, and Lily and Jay Stant; and his niece, Heather Hargis.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a memorial service will begin at 11 am. Inurnment will be held privately.
