John Michael Strakal, 59, of Morgantown, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at his home. He was greeted in heaven by his parents, Joseph Strakal and Alice Strakal.
He is survived by his two sisters Carolyn Province (Dolly Hickman), and Rita Taylor (Barry), his brother Bryan Strakal, niece Kathy Hickman Reh (Mike), three nephews Chuck Taylor (Ashley), Thomas Taylor, Garrett Taylor, four great nephews Gabriel Reh, Kristopher Reh (Melody), Blake DeVan, Grayson Taylor, one great-great nephew Theodore Reh and two great-great nieces Caroline Reh and Savannah Reh, and his stepmother Selma (Eileen) Strakal. He also leaves many dear friends he considered family and loved very much.
John was born on September 21, 1964 in Washington, D.C. and lived in Berwyn Heights, Maryland where he spent most of his life. He lived in the Washington metropolitan area until he settled in his father's hometown of Morgantown, West Virginia.
In his youth John enjoyed sharpening and displaying his artistic talents with art classes and contests and in color guard flag competitions winning many awards in both fields.
John was a professional Cosmetologist, a couture dressmaker and designer. These skills and talents proved beneficial in his career as well known and beloved drag stage performer Terrie Santana.
Both personalities of this lovely person were joyful and beautiful and will be forever remembered and cherished.
