Obituary of John M. Strope
John M. Strope, 86, of West Sand Lake, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Born and educated in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Albert and the late Mildred Snyder Strope.
Mr. Strope had been employed by the Troy Housing Authority.
John was an avid New York Mets and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to play Bingo in his retirement, enjoyed scratch offs, sitting on the front porch socializing, socializing with all of the neighbors, even to include their dogs. He liked playing card games with his great grandchildren and shopping at Wal-Mart.
Survived by his children; Shirley (Stephen) Pasquariello, Charlene (Wallace) Arnold, John (the late, Stacy) Strope and Tammy Strope, predeceased by son Jonathan Strope, father in law to David Williams; brother of the late, Albert Strope, James Strope, Edward Strope, Charles Strope, Walter Strope, Harry Strope, Arthur Strope, Howard Strope, Mildred Strope and Clara Strope, devoted caregivers Dawn and Paul Wilkes, who cared for John for over the past twenty years having resided with them for 16 of those years.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Avenue (at the Corner of 115 Street and Fourth Avenue in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182 on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
