John Ray Suttles, age 84, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 8:25 a.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 24, 1940, in Fort Myers, Florida, the son of Archie Calvin and Ruth Dewayne (Davis) Suttles.
John was a 1958 graduate of Aurora High School and received his bachelor's degree in engineering from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He worked for Caterpillar in Illinois, EFCO Corporation and Win Tech both in Monett, Missouri. He liked Coon hunting, making Indian Flutes, Caving and Flint knapping. He attended the Marionville Church of The Nazarene.
On December 23, 1960, he married Freda Fern Fletcher, in Aurora, Missouri. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2017.
John is survived by his daughter, Diana Sapiens of Verona, Missouri; one son, Jeremy Suttles of Ypsilanti, Michigan; 13 grandchildren, Zachariah, Rayanna, Brenden, Lauren, Jennifer, Mary, Kimberly, Mattie, Matthew, Lydia, Ricky, Joshua and Brian, and several great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Archie, and Ruth; his wife, Freda; three daughters, Janetta Gregory, Lanetta Ray, and Debra Lane and son-in-law, Tony Sapiens.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, in Aurora, with burial to follow at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in the funeral home.
