Maybelle Kyle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home on Jan. 28, 2026.
Maybelle Susanne Louise (Campbell) Kyle, age 90, of Bradenton, Florida / Marionville, Missouri, earned her heavenly wings at 1:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton Florida.
Susanne was born on April 11, 1934, in Marceline Missouri, the daughter of Dr. John William and Eunice Louise (Kerr) Campbell and sister to Dr. John William Campbell II.
Susanne was a 1952 graduate of Davenport Central HS in Davenport Iowa. She earned an Associate Arts degree from Stephens College, in Columbia, Missouri, in 1954. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State University (SMSU) in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Home Economics and in 1976 she earned her Master of Science degree in Education and Special Education from SMSU. She was a full-time Home Economics teacher and a Special Education teacher for the State of Missouri from 1972 through her retirement in1999. She then continued teaching for several years after retirement as a full-time substitute teacher.
While attending Stephens college, Susanne met her future husband, James L. Kyle of Marionville Missouri. They were married on May 6, 1954, in Columbia, Missouri, and then a second marriage ceremony was held on June 5, 1954, in Bettendorf Iowa (for Susanne's family to witness and share). Shortly after their wedding, Jim and Susanne were off to Fort McClellan, Alabama, to fulfill Jim's military requirements as an Army Officer. After two years in the military, Jim and Susanne returned to Jim's family farm in Marionville to raise their family.
Jim and Susanne were the proud parents of seven children, Deborah Ann (passed in 1956), Rebecca Sue, James William (passed in 2023), Elizabeth Ellen, Robert Edward, John David, and Beverly Jeanne. When asked about their children's names, they would reply "Becky, Billy, Beth, Bob, John and Beverly." Six of the seven Kyle children were all raised in Marionville and graduated from Marionville High School.
Susanne's personal hobbies included her Schnauzers, photography, dancing, crocheting, sewing, crafting, cooking, scrapbooking, gardening, genealogy and spending time with her children, grandchildren, her extended family, and numerous friends. Jim and Susanne were both prominent members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie # 3948, in Aurora, Missouri.
After Jim's passing in 1991, Susanne stayed in Marionville to continue teaching and to be close to her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She spent many, many years attending local fairs and always ensured there were animals on the farm to allow children and grandchildren the opportunity to raise and show an animal.
On the day of New Years Eve 2005, Susanne reconnected with Bradley Hoffman, a gentleman that she and Jim had met through their Eagles membership. Bradley's wife (Helen) had previously passed away and Susanne and Brad started spending time together during 2005. In early 2006, Susanne moved to share a joint home with Brad in Canton, Missouri, and then in 2012, Brad and Susanne moved to the Eagle Village in Bradenton, Florida, where they remained until her passing.
In the 20 years Brad and Susanne were together, she was able to travel all over the United States, take numerous Cruises, started fishing (mostly for trout), and continue her personal hobbies of photography and genealogy. The Kyle children are VERY grateful to Brad for the lifestyle that Mom was able to enjoy in her retirement and to Brad's children, Bruce and Annette Hoffman, Cathy and Dan Schutte, and their families for accepting our mother as a beloved part of their lives.
Susanne is survived by Mr. Bradley Hoffman of Bradenton Florida, / Canton Missouri; five children, Becky Loper of Bradenton, Florida, Beth Carl of Bradenton, Florida, Robert and Rhonda Kyle of Butler, Missouri, John Kyle of Crane, Missouri, and Beverly and Michael Fugate of Marionville, Missouri; five nieces and nephews, John (Gerry) Campbell, Kent (Bonnie) Campbell, Kay Smith, Jill (Jay) Dickens, and Janine (Jim) Bittner. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Susanne is preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Kyle (1991), her daughter, Debbie Ann Kyle (1956), her son, James "JW" Kyle (2023), her father, Dr. John "Grampy" Campbell (1994), her mother, Eunice "Grammy" Campbell (1973), her brother, Dr John "Jay" Campbell (2020) and his wife, Geraldine "Geri" Campbell (2022).
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, in the funeral home chapel with a burial to follow at the Marionville IOOF Cemetery in Marionville, to be interned next to Jim in the Kyle family plot.
