We remember today with profound respect and affection, John Edward Talada of Towanda, who passed away on January 20, 2024. Born in New Jersey, on October 24, 1929, John's life was a testament to his resilience, dedication, and unwavering support for those he loved.
John was a dedicated carpenter, applying his skilled hands in the service of GTP Manufacturing. His work ethic was unparalleled, and his resilient spirit always shone through, even in the face of adversity. John was a proud veteran of the US Navy and was also a supportive member of his community, involved in various organizations and was a life member of Towanda American Legion, Towanda VFW, American Veterans, Monroeton Rod and Gun Club, and Towanda Elks. In his spare time, John enjoyed bowling and hunting, and had a unique hobby of crushing cans to donate money to the VA hospital in Wilkes Barre, Pa. As Helen Keller once said, "I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still, I can do something." John lived these words, consistently giving back to his community and those in need.
John was a beloved figure in the lives of his surviving family members. He is survived by his wife, Dora Talada, whom he married on January 23, 1959, faithful dog Sandy, and his niece, Patty and Ted Binley of South Carolina. John is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Talada, his mother, Dortha Talada, daughter Jackie Talada in 2009, and his brother, Harry Talada. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life dedicated to service, resilience, and love.
