John M. Tarantino, 93, of Pocono Summit, passed away at St. Luke's Hospital - Monroe Campus on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
Born in Patterson, NJ; he was the son of the late Harry Tarantino and Bertha (Caiola) Tarantino. John was the beloved husband of Alice Tarantino for 70 years. He studied clarinet at the Juilliard School of Music, under the direction of Vincent Abato. He then served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the United States Air Force Band. Upon his return from the Air Force he continued his musical career playing with many of the well known big bands throughout the United States of America, as well as forming his own band; Johnny Taran and the Velvet Tones. In his mid 20's he began a 32 year career as a chemist at Hoffman-La Roche.
John had a great love for family and continued many of the traditions of his Italian ancestry. Cooking many old world recipes with his wife and children at holiday celebrations.
Survived by his wife, Alice Tarantino; John will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Joanne Keeler, and her husband, Keith Keeler; and his daughter-in-law Cyndi Tarantino. He will be missed by his 5 grandchildren: Lauren, Shannon, Chelsea Keeler, Tamara and Michael Tarantino and his two beautiful great-grandchildren, Sparrow and Loch Cotton.
John was predeceased by his son, Michael John Tarantino.
A memorial visitation will take place from 4:00 P.M. till 5:30 P.M. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in the Bolock Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 6148 Paradise Valley Road, Cresco, Pa 18326.
