Tupelo--John Thomas “Tommy” Carr passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the North Mississippi Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of Tupelo, Tommy was born March 27, 1937 to Oscar Thomas Carr and Suzanne Poole Carr. He was a 1955 graduate of Tupelo High School and attended Mississippi State University. In 1958 he married his best friend and soul mate, Betty Bostic and they treasured the 66 years they spent together. Tommy proudly served his country in the United States Army. His career as a draftsman served him well as an employee of Rockwell International and Daybrite Lighting. He was a gifted artist and avid bass fisherman. Tommy was a member of the National Bass Masters Club and a founder of the Tupelo chapter of the club. He created beautiful model airplanes, many of which he donated to the Tupelo Veterans Museum. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. He was a beloved and devoted husband and father.

Tommy leaves behind his wife, Betty Bostic Carr; three children, Larry Carr (Joyce) of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Tom Carr Jr. of Tupelo, and Cecilia Carr Spencer (Willie) of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Blair Carr.

Visitation will be 12 noon until 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025at Pegues, Tupelo.

Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Tupelo Memorial Park with Rev. Jim McClurkan officiating. Pegues Funeral Directors has been honored to handle the arrangements.
