John Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joe Morris & Son Funeral Home on Feb. 15, 2024.
His Story
John Henry Thomas Sr., affectionately known as "Bobe" and "J.T.", was born June 2, 1956, to Alec Williams and Georgia Thomas in Pensacola, Florida. There, he grew up and attended schools in Escambia County graduating from Booker T. Washington Class of 1975.
Upon graduation, John was employed at The Pensacola News Journal. Never one to settle for less, John was determined to blaze a fresh trail by relocating to Houston, Texas with then wife of Pensacola, Florida, Jacqueline Thomas. They wed in October 1980 and to their union, a son, John Henry Thomas Jr. was born. The marriage was dissolved in 1985, but their son was a blessing from their union. John went on to have additional blessings and became a doting "girl dad" to Serena (Anderson) Webb and Latasha Anderson with his loving partner Belinda Anderson.
While in Houston, John was employed at The Kroger Company and later returned to his printing business origins and was employed by both The Houston Post and later, the Houston Chronicle. After residing in Houston, Texas for numerous years, he decided to return to Pensacola in 2001.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Alec Williams and Georgia Thomas and six brothers: Willie George McIntyre, Willie James McIntyre, Sylvester McIntyre, Elijah Thomas, Leroy McIntyre and Bobby McIntyre, and by a precious granddaughter, Arianna Harris. Surviving siblings included: sisters Hattie (Daniel) Stoutemire of Pensacola, Florida; Louella Thomas Canada of Carpentersville, Illinois; brothers: Eddie Thomas (Vanessa) of Maywood, Illinois; and David "Pip" Thomas (Elaine) of Pensacola, Florida. He is survived by his children John Henry Thomas, Jr. (Cynthia), Serena (Marquae) Webb, and Latasha Anderson. He is also survived by grandchildren: Devonte Anderson, Alyssa Smith, Natasha Smith, Autumn Webb, Chelsea Webb, Carter Webb, and twins, Cody Thomas and Jacey Thomas and great-grandchild, J'Harrah Anderson Simmons. John leaves to cherish, a devoted partner, Sandra Studervant, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
As we evoke memories of John, remember how sharp, handsome, and debonair he looked when he wore a nice suit. Remember the partygoer who in his heyday was a regular at The Post. Remember the man that doctors called a "Medical Miracle" due to the strength he displayed despite his diagnosis. Remember the person who came to find joy in the simple things in life, which included his favorite pastime, enjoying the tranquility of his backyard and the serene peacefulness of the beautiful Pensacola sky. As we reflect, picture a strong and charming man that is celebrating at the best kind of party, a party with our heavenly Father.
The sky glowed with sunrise, like a morning in heaven-
Life is like the sky-
There are cloudy days,
but you know that sooner or later,
the sun will shine
God Saw You Getting Tired
and a cure was not to be
so, he put his arms around you
and whispered, "Come to Me".
With tearful eyes, we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly,
we could not make you stay.
A Golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
