John William (Jack) Thompson, 76, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Earl and Minnie McCabe Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Bill Wright, Marion Hendricks, Margaret McCann, and Patricia Anderson. Mr. Thompson was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jean Louchery Thompson; his children, Nicole Toner (Larry), Tiffany Thompson, Danny Thompson, and Kevin Thompson; his grandchildren, Emily Cowley (John), Mikey Dagenhart, Elijah Thompson, and Jasher Thompson; his unofficial adopted daughters, Tracy Holt and Doris Havens; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Thompson will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors, will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Salisbury National Cemetery, 202 Government Rd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
