William Duane Mason, Jr.
William Duane Mason, Jr., 59, born in Sacramento, California, passed
away unexpectedly on July 17, 2025
William worked in the Steel Industry, where he worked his way up
from completely assembling a chain saw for his interview to repairing
very large computerized machines. He had no schooling; he just
figured it out, saving these companies thousands. The company no
longer had to pay for a technician to travel to repair their machines.
William had a knack for bringing things to life, whether it was building
computers in recent years to fixing appliances, heating and air or
working on his cars. He was truly gifted and loved to make things
work. His compassion extended to animals, often bringing strays like
Sebastian the cat, and the dogs, Pepe, Chelsea and Sadie, into the
family home, providing them with a loving refuge.
A natural storyteller, William always had a captivating tale for every
occasion. He was also a talented cook, often preparing delicious meals
for his parents, though he famously avoided vegetables.
Growing up, he embodied the spirit of his generation, fearlessly riding
a homemade skateboard (often without a helmet!) and building bike
ramps for adventurous jumps. He was also an exceptional swimmer,
earning many medals for his skill in the water.
William is survived by his loving parents Bill and Sandy Mason and
sister, Jennie Mason. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and
loved him.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Sept 6 at 2pm
at United Methodist Church at Common in Stanley, NC
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an animal rescue of your
