John Robert Tisher, 72 of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March, 5, 2023 at the Apostolic Christian Home after a brief illness.
John was born in Wadsworth on April 7, 1950 to William and Dorothy (Maury) Tisher and was a 1968 graduate of Norwayne High School. He graduated in 1972 from Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in Education and began teaching at Green Springs Junior High School in Clyde, OH. In 1983 he received his Master's Degree from Ohio State University and taught History and Industrial Arts at Southeast Local Schools from 1983-2011. After retirement, he was a Substitute Teacher in the area. John was a member of the Grace Church in Wooster and had enjoyed doing woodworking and mowing his lawn.
Surviving is his wife, Kathleen (Wiles) TIsher who he married on June 1, 1991; his children and their spouses, Greg and Lizzie Tisher, Lori and Jennene Pritt, Josh and Katie Nickles, Melissa and Ian McElroy and Amanda Nickles and friend Dustin Lower; 7 grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Dave Bertsch; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ken and Jan Wiles and Carolyn Wiles Higdon and his dog, Maverick that he loved.
Services will be Friday, March 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Church in Wooster where friends may call Thursday, March 9th from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or Grace Church, 4599 Burbank Rd., Wooster, OH 44691. Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
