John Toth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Arnold Funeral Home - Hartville on Dec. 15, 2025.
John J. Toth, 97, of Canton, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 12, due to age-related medical complications.

Born in Scalp Level, Pennsylvania, on November 27, 1928, John was the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Toczky) Toth. He was a loving and devoted family member, who cherished his parents, brothers, and sister throughout his life.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Upon returning, he settled in his hometown of Windber, Pennsylvania, before moving to Canton, Ohio, to join his brothers and uncle. John pursued several careers in Canton, including working as a professional barber in Canton, a construction worker erecting service stations and billboards, and finally retiring after 25 years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was a longtime member of Little Flower Catholic Parish in Middlebranch, Ohio.

John had a servant's heart, always placing the needs of others ahead of his own. He cherished his family and was loved by them in return.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elizabeth Toth; his brothers, Paul Jr., Steve, and Andrew; and his sisters, Margaret (North Canton, Ohio) and infant sister Elizabeth (Meco, Pennsylvania).

"Uncle Johnny" will be deeply missed by his extended family, particularly his many nieces and nephews, including brother Paul's children: Paul Toth III (Olympia, WA) David Toth (Hudson, OH) Nancy Toth (North Canton, OH) and Barbara Coombs, deceased (North Canton, OH) and brother Steve's children: Catherine Zimmerman (North Canton, OH) Stephen D. Toth (Delaware, OH) Michael Toth (Akron, OH) Patricia Bishop (Greenacres, FL) Daniel Toth (Anderson, SC) Patrick Toth (Akron, OH) Elizabeth Kirk (Springboro, OH) and Tina Wengerd, deceased (Dalton, OH).
