John Trozzo Obituary
Mr. John Michael Trozzo, age 89 of Dexter, GA passed away on Monday, May 6th, 2024. He was born on July 23rd, 1934, in Belle Vernon, PA to the late Louise Romano Trozzo and Ernest Trozzo Sr., and was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Trozzo served in the USAF and was a veteran of the Korean conflict. He retired from Bristol-Myers Squibb with a career that included the development of the first international color wheel for Clairol hair products. After his retirement from Bristol-Myers, he remained in the hair, beauty, and healthcare industry which included ownership in salon boutiques in the Atlanta Metro area. His entrepreneurial spirit continued later as an owner of delis located in Pensacola and Clear Lake, TX.
Mr. Trozzo was dedicated to his family and was a man of many interests. These include Facebook messaging with his friends, attending many high school reunions, saltwater fishing, and creating works of art from the miscellaneous items he collected overtime. He was also proud of his Italian heritage, with his story beginning with his family's arrival to the United States through Ellis Island. He enjoyed reminiscing about old times and his many adventures.
John is survived by his wife, Beverly Smith Trozzo, his children Daniel Trozzo, Tim Trozzo, and Peggi Birkenseher (Mike) as well as two grandchildren: Matthew Birkenseher (Sudie) and Sean Birkenseher, and great-grandchildren: Kinley and Kayden Birkenseher. In addition, he is also survived by his sister Louann Lori, and in-laws Andrew and Vanessa Smith, and Esther Trozzo.
In a special recognition, John will be severely missed by his long-haired furry companion, Bear. Bear is a fierce and loyal companion who loved Mr. Trozzo dearly and provided constant comfort, love, and companionship.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Trozzo was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia, his children David Trozzo and Ginger and Adam Trozzo (twins) and brother Ernest Trozzo, Jr. "Sonny". In addition, he is preceded by close family including daughter-in-law Sandy Trozzo, grandson William "Billy" Trozzo, and brother-in-law James Lori.
Mr. Trozzo's celebration of life will be announced at a later date. A memorial mass will be held at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Belle Vernon, PA on Sunday, July 7th at 9 am. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family asks that any desired donations in his memory be made to the Dexter Volunteer Fire Department (Laurens County Fire Station 11 – 116 N Main St. Dexter, GA 31019).
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the Fairview Park Hospital ER and Dustin Williamson with Georgia Hospice care.
