John Vander Moore, Jr., age 72, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at his home in Moreland, Georgia. John was born on December 22, 1952, in Long Island, New York, to the late John V. Moore, Sr., and Dorothy Stark Moore. John moved to Georgia after completing his associate's degree in technology. While in Georgia, John switched vocations to truck driving and traveled in the southeast to make sure he would be home with his family every night. He would cook dinner every night for the family, and they always looked forward to Friday spaghetti nights. He loved to bake more than anything and would always have his special homemade cookies waiting for the children anytime they came home. As the children grew, John would take them with him on his travels, creating unique memories together. Any time he would go shopping or on any day adventure, he would make sure to take turns with each child and bring them with him so he could spend one-on-one time with them, creating more unique memories. As an adored grandfather, John handcrafted a playground, swings, and a sandbox for his grandchildren to play in. John loved spending time with his family and would spend every holiday together. Even as the children grew he would take them to zoos, gardens, aquariums, and so much more. He loved going to the aquarium to see the penguins the most. He was a loving father and grandfather and made sure to always create new and lasting memories with them all that will forever be treasured. John dedicated his life to Jesus Christ in 1980 and regularly attended church. While in Newnan, John became a member of Coweta Community Church, where he faithfully served on the production team changing the presentation slides for the worship service. The funeral service celebrating John's life is on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan, with Pastor Pete Mullins officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. John is survived by his wife, Sue Moore; sons, Josh Moore and his wife Patricia, Jared Moore, Jason Moore and his wife Turkeesha, Jeremiah Moore, and daughter, Sarah Moore. John is also survived by his grandchildren, Ian Moore, Liam Moore, Rhiyanna Moore, Madison Moore, mother of the children, Cathleen Howard, and his dear four-legged friend, Nala.
