John Joseph Vasta, a life-long Pleasantville resident, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 30, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born on August 15, 1943, in New York, NY, to the late James and Katie Vasta.
John will be lovingly remembered for his incredible ability to fix anything. Whether it was a broken appliance, a car that wouldn't start, or any other household repair, John's knack for problem-solving and hands-on approach made him the go-to person for family and friends alike. He was also passionate about hunting and loved spending time cutting grass on his property upstate, activities that brought him peace and fulfillment.
He married the love of his life, Virginia Lee Francioli, on April 8, 1967, at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville, NY. Virginia, his devoted wife of 58 years, survives him.
In addition to his beloved wife, John is survived by his loving daughter, Carolyn Cicale, and her husband Michael as well as his two granddaughters, Julia and Lauren.
John is also survived by his sister, Catherine Maniscalco, and her two sons, Joseph and Vincent as well as his nieces and nephew, Lee Anne Dolan, Jennifer Kenworthy, and Paul Francioli, who will all miss him deeply.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor John's Life at a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Holy Innocents Church, 431 Bedford Road, Pleasantville, NY. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
