Greensboro, North CarolinaJohn Christopher Vaughn
June 25, 1967 – October 18, 2025
John Christopher Vaughn, 58, of
Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away surrounded by the
family he loved so dearly after a brief illness.
Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Chris built a life
defined by hard work, loyalty, and heart. He graduated from UNCG in
Greensboro, NC, where
he met his wife, Laura. For more than 30 years, he worked as a package car driver for UPS,
where he was known for his friendly smile, dependability, and easy way with everyone he met.
For the last fourteen years, Chris proudly served as a Business Agent with Teamsters Local
391, continuing his lifelong commitment to his coworkers and community.
Outside of work, Chris was happiest cheering on his favorite teams - the Pittsburgh Steelers
and the Duke Blue Devils - or casting a line on a quiet lake or at the beach with family and
friends. He was a true sports fan, and he never missed a chance to talk football, basketball, or
sports of any kind. Fishing brought him peace, patience, and plenty of stories to tell - some of
which may have grown a little with each retelling.
Chris's greatest joy, though, was his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loyal
brother, and a true friend. His love for his wife, Laura, and his sons, Nikolas and Rece, was
unwavering, and he was truly proud of the men his boys have become.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peggy and Kenneth Vaughn, and his sister, Tracy
Whaley. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura; his sons, Nikolas (Vanessa) and Rece
(Francesca); beloved dogs, Finn and Toby; his siblings, Kim Vaughn, Matthew Vaughn (Tisha),
and Amy Morrow (Johnny); his niece, Leigh Whaley (Courtney); and his nephew, Geoffrey
Whaley (Tim). Chris will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and the way he made people
feel at ease. Whether he was sharing a laugh, telling a story, or lending a hand, Chris never
knew a stranger and had a way of making the world a little brighter.
A celebration of Chris's life will be held on November 8 at 2 PM at the Dinner Bell Farm, 7565
Snow Camp Rd, Snow Camp, NC 27349. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be
made in his memory to Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation
(ACPMP.ORG.)
