John Lee Walczak, 77, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025
Born August 22, 1947 to John J. and Helen (Glattes) Walczak, John was a 1965 graduate of North High School where he excelled in sports, and even made the All City Team in football. John joined the United States Marines and he was a proud Vietnam veteran. After his service ended, John became a machinist and worked at Standard Jig Boring until his retirement.
John was a giving man; to his family, friends, and all those in need. He faithfully attended weekly Holy Hour at Saint Augustine for many years. John had many passions which included Harley Davidsons, trains, war planes and movies, trivia game shows, telling bad jokes and good stories, playing Euchre, and indulging in sweets.
John was preceded in death by his father, John J.; mother, Helen; brothers Michael, Patrick, and Christopher; and cherished wife Judy (Bertsch). Left to mourn his loss are his son and caretaker, Brad Walczak; daughters Kelly Walczak and Trisha (Michael) Clark; grandchildren Ashley Walczak, Logan Bender, Lucas Bender (Sarah Ballash), and Jessica Clark; stepbrothers, Don (Kathy) Goliath, Eugene (Cheryl) Goliath, and Greg (Teresea) Goliath; special cousin, Betty Naswadi; his sweet lady, Pam Benner; and a host of friends.
Thank you to the VA, Kim and her home health aides at Arcadia, the nurses at Care Tenders, Heather Knoll, and SUMMA Hospice for their loving care and guidance over the difficult last year.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 1:00PM at the Anthony Funeral Home-Akron Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron, where the family will receive friends for 1 hour prior, beginning at Noon. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations can be made in his name to St. Augustine Catholic Church. https://membership.faithdirect.net/givenow/OH278
