John Wallace Obituary

John Raymon Wallace, born on February 23, 1937, in Hickory Point, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on October 14,2024, in Cedar Hill, Tennessee. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, whose unwavering spirit, commitment to family, and dedication to service left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

John's early life unfolded in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he attended Burt High School. An avid sports enthusiast, he played both football and baseball, showcasing his athletic abilities before moving on to Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. It was during this time that he continued to pursue his passion for football. With a relentless drive for education, John earned a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University and later achieved two master’s degrees from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Throughout his academic journey, he worked diligently as a bartender to support himself, a testament to his strong work ethic and determination.

In 1956, John joined the United States Air Force, embarking on a distinguished career that would span 23 years. He held a significant role in high-security clearance and the Minuteman missile program, traveling extensively as an instructor in helicopter engine repair. His service to his country not only demonstrated his patriotism but also his commitment to excellence and leadership.

On November 16, 1957, John married the love of his life of 66 years and 11 months, Ruby May (Northington) Wallace. Together they built a nurturing home filled with love and laughter. John cherished his family and is survived by his daughter, Guyton Daniels (Derrick), and son, Raymond Wallace (Joan). He took great pride in his grandchildren, who include  Derrick J.R. Daniels, Payton Wallace, Tiana Harrison (Arnold, II), Kaiya Daniels and Kiana Daniels, as well as his great-grandchildren: Briana Idlett, Dawn Burton, Denia Burton, Kayden Hambrick, Audrey Harrison, Sophia Cornelia, Arnold Harrison, III, Dylan Parker, Gabriel Campbell-Cornelia, Ashe Harrison, and Titan Daniels.

John's legacy is deeply entwined with the memory of those who preceded him in death, including his mother Beulah (Williams) Wallace, father RJ Wallace, and sisters Ann Nicholson, Georgia May Loudermill, and Dorothy Bowers. He also mourned the loss of his daughters, Rosalind Nikita Wallace and Judy Wallace, as well as his grandson Vaughn Robert Cornelia.

The community is invited to honor John's remarkable life during the visitation on October 19, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 PM, both held at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center located at 4005 Memorial Blvd, Springfield, TN 37172. Burial will follow at the Wallace Northington Cemetery on Kinneys Road.

John Raymon Wallace will be remembered for his steadfast love for his family, his dedication to his country, and his unwavering determination throughout his life. His presence will be profoundly missed but his spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
