John Walters Obituary
He was born June 24, 1949, in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Glenn and Sarah Walters.
John honorably served in the US Army in the Vietnam War during the 1968 Tet Offensive.
John was a licensed builder; he owned and operated K & J Maintenance for 40 years. He loved hunting, camping, boating, taking care of his property and just being outdoors. John could always be counted on to help family, friends and neighbors in need. John was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion.
John leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Edie; two children, John D Walters and Tracy L (Jeff) Kucera; three grandchildren, Wesley (Maya) Kucera, Ariel (David) Kittle and Averi (Scott) Plummer; five great-grandchildren, Rori Smith, Kane Kittle, Evelyn Kittle, Nikolas Kucera, and Margot Plummer; brothers-in-law, Jack (Janet) Brewer and Kirk Myers, sister-in-law, Mary (David) Workman, nephews, Tony (Jude) Wagner and Greg Brewer; niece, Elizabeth (Aaron) Ferguson; as well as many cousins and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Walters and Sarah (Walters) Danich; step-father, Edward Danich; in-laws, Charles and Mary Lou Brewer; sister-in-law, Ramona Myers; and brother-in-law, Bill Brewer.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Memorial - Smith Chapel, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron, Michigan 48060, with visiting starting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Drew Hart will officiate. Final resting place will be the Columbium at the St Clair County Allied Veterans Cemetery in Port Huron.
Full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the US Army and St Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to DAV, VFW, or American Legion.
