John Richard Weaver, a devoted husband, father, brother, and respected member of the community, passed away in Kansas City, Missouri on March 13, 2024. He was born on November 12, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri

John graduated from the University of Missouri, Kansas City with a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting and led a distinguished career as an accountant with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) until his retirement in 2019. Apart from his professional achievements, John served his country honorably in the United States Navy as an active service member from 1974 to 1977 before transferring to the reserves until 1993. He proudly served in the Navy a total of 20 years. During his service, he received the Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, and Navy Expert Pistol Medal. His dedication and commitment were evident as he served on the USS Chicago during the Gulf War.

Outside of work and military service, John was deeply passionate about various hobbies and interests. He had a love for scouting and camping and enjoyed traveling extensively — particularly during his time in the Navy — always making sure to collect souvenirs for his children. John also found joy in visiting Branson, MO, and had a keen interest in learning about history, with a particular focus on the Civil War and historical landmarks. He even attended reenactments to further immerse himself in his passion.

John was immensely proud of his involvement with several organizations. He was a Proud Member of the Knights of Columbus, Tribe of the Mic-O-Say - Order of the Arrow, and a member of the Trailblazers.

In addition to his professional accomplishments and interests, John valued family above all else. In 1992, he married the love of his life, Gina Arlene Cadwell, and together they created many happy memories. Through their love and patience, they raised seven children, whom he is survived by - Mark Charles Weaver, Candace Nicole Weddle, Sarah Elizabeth Metz, Rachel Christine Harper, Mary Rose George, Michael Dean Weaver, and Andrew Scott Weaver. John also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Tyler, Chevelle, Richard Lee Jr., Alice, Jonathon, Lucy, and Olivia, as well as his brother Maurice Joe Martinez.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Gina Weaver; father, Burvel Dean Weaver; mother, Mary Martinez; paternal grandfather, Porter Weaver; paternal grandmother, Euphia (Scheets) Weaver; maternal grandfather, Francisco Martinez; maternal grandmother, Guadalupe (Barbosa) Martinez; and two brothers whom passed at birth.
