John H. Wentzel, 94, of Manheim, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Landis Homes. Born in Lancaster on March 31, 1931 he was the son of the late Elion and Esther (Sensenig) Wentzel. He was the husband of the late Erla S. (Schmid) Wentzel.
John was a 1949 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School and received his B.S. in education from Millersville University. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was the head master of Lakes Area Christian School in Laconia, NH for 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking and furniture making. John also coached and played sports. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0945.
Surviving are two sons David Wentzel (Joan) of Suches, GA, Bradley Wentzel (Shirley) of Manheim; a daughter Kathleen Boycan (Brian) of Manheim; a brother Robert Wentzel of Halifax; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Elion Wentzel and a sister Mary Kirk.
A private service will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
