It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Wesley Westbrook, who left us on February 18, 2026, at the age of 68. John was born on July 19, 1957, in Monroe, Arkansas, and spent much of his life in Paragould, where he cultivated not only farmland but also the love and respect of those around him.
John was a devoted farmer, finding joy in caring for the land and the animals at Arkansas State University. His connection to the earth was evident in everything he did, from his work in agriculture to the outdoor security he provided at the Craighead County Jail and the Jonesboro Airport. A true outdoorsman, he cherished moments spent fishing and hunting, always eager to share the beauty of nature with his family and friends.
Music was another passion of John's. He created and published heartfelt songs about love, fatherhood, and the simple joys of farming. A lover of classic country music, he drew inspiration from legends like Johnny Cash and Red Sovine, weaving melodies that resonated with the rhythms of life.
John was not only a loving father to his daughters, but also a proud grandfather who delighted in spending time with his grandkids. His lighthearted spirit and unique sense of humor brought joy to many, making him a cherished jokester who could brighten any room.
As an active Jehovah's Witness, John firmly believed in spreading the Word of God, and he lived his life surrounded by love and kindness. His compassion for others and unwavering faith left an undeniable mark on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Ruth May Westbrook; son Byron Dowdy; brother, Larry Westbrook; cousins, Linda Parks, Earl (Carolyn) Parks; and grandsons, Xander and Malachi Greenway.
John is survived by his loving daughters, Ruthie Kay Westbrook, Mary (Rocky) Norman, Lavera (Daniel) Greenway, and Rosemary Westbrook; his brother, Shorty; and sisters, AllieMae Moore and Wilma Berryhill; grandchildren, Christopher, Aiyana, Emma, Crystal, and Angelique Norman, Isabella and Ashlyn Morgan, Joslin Westbrook, Karrington and Jasmine Greenway; along with a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate John's life. A visitation will take place at Heath Funeral Home on Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We encourage all those whose lives John touched to join us in honoring a truly remarkable individual.
Rest in peace, John. Your spirit lives on in our hearts, and your legacy of love will never be forgotten.
