Wow i just saw this while viewing WTOC 70 years of broadcasting. "Big" John was a great weatherman and person. I once got to speak to him at our Kroger store here in Hinesville, Georgia. Rest in the arms of our Lord John. Bruce Wood in Hinesville, Georgia

Always incredibly positive ... always with a smile on his face. That is how I will remember longtime friend and incredible radio & TV talent, Big John Wetherbee. I always teased 6-foot-9-inch Big John about the accuracy of his weather reports. I would tell him, "Of course, you are always right about the weather ... your head is in the clouds. Who needs radar?" John was such a nice guy that if he ever bought a house next door to Fred Rogers, the community would no doubt become known as "Mister Wetherbee's Neighborhood." RIP Big John.
