John Wayne Whitley - (April 19, 1954 – September 4, 2025) John Wayne Whitley, age 71, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at his home. John, who went by Wayne, was born April 19, 1954, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late John Whitley and Marie Prince Whitley. For those who knew him, Wayne was always the life of the party who enjoyed trying to put a smile on your face. He enjoyed fishing at Percy Priest Lake, cooking out with family, and watching Tennessee Vols football games. Wayne was a retired truck driver and worked over 32 years driving for FedEx Freight (American Freight). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loved and cherished wife, Brenda Kaye Whitley and brother Don Lewellen. He is survived by his children, sons Chad (Tina) Garrett, and Heath Garrett; daughter Tammy LeMaster; grandchildren, James "Cody" (Annie) LeMaster, Kayla (Jeff) Carpenter, Destiny (Ben) Iliff, Krista (Tyler) Graves, and Kale Garrett; 7 great-grandchildren, Michael, Lily, Kaison, Kallen, Haisley, Neyland, and Raelynn. He is also survived by his brother Billy (Carol) Lewellen. Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 12:00pm from the chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 4pm-8pm and Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 10am until time of service.
