John Wayne Wilkins

John Wayne Wilkins, 69, of Chesapeake, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Born on December 14, 1956, in Old Norfolk County, he was the beloved son of the late Herman Valley Wilkins and Margaret Ellen Taylor Wilkins.

John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, dedicating several years to service before returning to civilian life. After his time in the Navy, John pursued a career as an electrician, a field where he worked diligently until his retirement. His commitment to his work was evident to all who knew him.

Beyond his professional life, John's greatest joy came from spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. His love for those around him was unwavering, and he cherished each moment spent with them. Whether it was a family gathering or a simple visit from a friend, John's warmth and kindness were always present.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Angela Schott, and her husband, Dustin; his son, John Robert Wilkins; and four treasured grandchildren, Alyssa Schott, Wesley Hutcheson, Damon Bass and Bridget Lee. John will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
