John Winters Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Macken Mortuary, Inc. - Rockville Centre from Jan. 5 to Jan. 6, 2026.
John Michael Winters, of Lynbrook, New York, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on November 28, 1948, John lived a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Erica; his loving children, Victoria Evans and Sean Winters; and his adored grandchildren, Josh Evans, Madison Gensler, and Jordan Wilburn. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first great-grandchild this coming spring. John also leaves behind his four sisters and brothers-in-law-Jay and Carol Meaney, Dave and Mary Ellen Reuter, Chris and Kathy Galgano, and Russell and Eileen Brodsky-along with a host of nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army, earning the National Defense Service Medal. His love for sports led him to play semi-professional baseball for the Mets organization, a testament to his talent and determination. Beyond the diamond, John was an avid golfer who enjoyed spending time on the greens. He also had a passion for boating and fishing, finding peace and joy on the water, and he loved spending time with his family. A man of warmth and integrity, John touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy of kindness and dedication will live on through his family and friends. John will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local Cancer Society in John's memory.
