Beloved husband of Brenda Witte; cherished son of the late Elmer and Agatha Witte; devoted father of Joseph (Catherine) Witte, James (Tina) Witte, John (Wendy) Witte, Jean (Matthew) Winkler, Melynda Mundy, Laura (Kyle) Manning, and Brian (Christy) Mundy; loving grandfather of Audra (Timothy) Carver, Karla (Jake) Frarrar, Abigail (Kevin) Buettner, Rebekah Witte, Christian (Veronica Norwood) Witte, Katherine Witte, Hannah Witte, Julia Witte, August (Amanda Leonard) Witte, Lindsey (Ryan) Heaberlin, Mason Winkler, Megan Mundy, Kody Manning, Jack Mundy, Claire Mundy, and Cole Mundy; great-grandfather of Evelyn Carver, Hank Carver, Clara Buettner, Reagan Heaberlin, and Brooklyn Heaberlin; dear brother of Eugene (the late Martha) Witte, Mary (Tom) Boschert, Barbara (the late George) Roesner, Joyce (the late Robert) Schierding, and brother-in-law of Dennis Shipman. John is preceded in death by first wife, Maria T. Witte, his sister, Charlotte Shipman, and his brother, Robert Joseph Witte.
John proudly served in the United States Navy and had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and spent many evenings playing nickel poker with his buddies. A devoted member of St. Peter Catholic Church, John generously volunteered his time, always lending a hand at fish fries and sausage suppers. He never missed a chance to support his grandchildren, faithfully attending their games and activities. Family was at the heart of everything he did, and some of his happiest moments were spent together at the farm. John was a kind, helpful man who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in John's name to St. Peter Catholic Church or Duchesne High School.
