John L. Wright, a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served with honor during the Vietnam War, passed away on January 13, 2025, at the age of 76. He was a longtime resident of Crestwood, KY.
John served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969, including a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He was a dedicated and courageous Marine, earning two Purple Hearts for his service and sacrifices during one of the most challenging periods in American military history. Throughout his time in service, John rose to the rank of Sergeant, a testament to his leadership, dedication, and resilience.
Even after leaving the Marine Corps, John remained committed to his brothers in arms. He stayed in close contact with fellow Marines, especially those from Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines, maintaining lifelong friendships that he cherished deeply.
John is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Brenda Wright. Three children, Paige (Brian) Casey, Shannon (Jesse) Cabot, and Jason Wright (Margie). Six grandchildren, Katelyn (Mark) Bocarro, Cameron (Emma Stutzman) Casey, Charley and Blake Cabot, Lily and Henderson Wright. His brother Tim (Lena Lovo) Wright, his sisters, Rita (Danny) Clark, and Jana (Bruce) Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Pam Wright and his parents, James and Rita Wright.
A private service and burial will be held for family members to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a veteran's organization of choice to support the causes John cared deeply about.
May he rest in peace, knowing his legacy of courage and commitment will never be forgotten.
