We announce the passing of John Peter Wynne on February 10, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathleen. His son, Danny and wife Tara Wynne. Daughter Karen Wynne Derrico and son-in-law Marc . His grandchildren Brady, Ella, Tristan, and Bradley. Sister Mary Beth and husband, Paul Leggett and his nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents John and Eleanor Wynne, his brother Kevin Wynne and Niece Kaylyn Wynne.
John Peter Wynne was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to parents John and Eleanor Wynne. Raised in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx later moving to Yonkers graduating from Gorton High School, where he excelled in basketball and held city records for Track.
Upon graduation, he served in the army from 1972 to 1974. He then joined the family business, the NYPD, for 26 years, retiring as a detective in the Bronx Homicide Squad. He then spent 11 years as a Treasury police officer at the West Point Mint. He served terms as president and vice president of the union during his tenure.
In 1977, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Daly, at Saint Lucy Church in the Bronx. Jack and Kathy started their family in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, eventually landing in their forever home in Monroe, New York.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, loved to give advice and direction to his children, nieces and nephews. Jack was a passionate fan of the New York Yankees and Giants. He was a member of the American Legion and the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Monroe, where he served as past treasurer.
Jack was known for his sense of humor, loyalty, and willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
