John Zebroski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mealey Funeral Home - Limestone Road on Oct. 25, 2024.
John E. Zebroski, Sr., "Gene", age 77, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024. Born in Wilmington, Gene was the son of the late Stella (Banack) and Peter Zebroski, Sr. He graduated from Christiana High School. Gene had a love of automobiles from a young age and enjoyed drag racing cars that he spent time repairing in high school. This inspired a love of auto mechanics and a career as a technician and mechanic. Gene worked at Kirkwood Dodge as an auto mechanic in the 1980s and went on to own and operate his own business, Gene's Automotive, in Bear, DE for 15 years. He then spent time in sales at Nucar Pontiac until most recently, working as machinist at Easy Lift Equipment, for the past 20 years. Gene was very involved as an umpire in the American Softball Association, holding the position of Umpire-in-Chief. He loved to go boating and spend time on the water.
In addition to his parents, Gene is predeceased by his wife, Mary "Diane" Zebroski. He is survived by his children, Lyn Hamrick (Aaron), Wendy Owsiany (Kyle), and John Zebroski, Jr.; his brothers, Peter Zebroski, Jr. (Karen), and Michael Zebroski, Sr. (Gina Prucino); and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A visitation will be held at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road Wilmington, DE 19808 on Thursday October 31, 2024 from 10 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. with funeral services to begin at 11:30 A.M. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.

Gene - Although you are not here with us physically we feel very connected to you emotionally and spiritually. You were a good friend to us and was always ready to help when needed. You were a brilliant mechanic and could fix any car that came into your shop. You were a loving, kind, fair and thoughtful gentleman. You will be sorely missed, but remembered always in our hearts and prayers. May our loving God bring you into his presence. Love, John, Pat and Ben
