Elizabeth Ann (Jones) Zebroski passed peacefully on July 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters.

Born on March 7, 1943, to Eleanor Margaret (Kingsley) Jones, Elizabeth was fiercely proud of growing up on the 900 block of W. 25th street with her mom and Kingsley relatives. This solid foundation combined with her big personality and vivacious nature allowed her to fill a room with her presence and positively improve the lives of others. She loved her friends, storytelling, laughing and entertaining people.

Combing her passion for music and performance with her love of children, Liz taught music at various schools including Lawrence Park, Our Lady Christian School, and Erie City schools. With much of her tenure spent as Westlake Middle School’s choral teacher, Liz was perhaps best known for directing her students’ Café Broadway performances as well as musicals and dynamic concert performances. Many will also remember Liz as their demanding yet kind piano teacher.

Liz also shared her musical gifts by singing in various Erie churches as a soloist, choir member and director. Readers may recall her playing the piano while conducting or singing hymns or solos. Her strong alto voice was often accompanied by the love of her life, her husband Charles on piano.

Graduating from Strong Vincent High School in 1961, Liz attended Mansfield College (PA) graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. While attending classes and performing in many musical performances, Liz met Charles Zebroski (East Quogue, NY). Marrying in 1965, Liz and Chuck’s love and devotion kept them inseparable for 52 years and blessed them with two daughters, Kristen Zebroski and Jennifer (Zebroski) Enke.

Liz could be seen in Erie at all sorts of concerts. While she was often a performer, Liz loved watching performers share their talents and actively encouraged people to express themselves artistically. She and her family would travel to Pittsburgh, Cleveland and surrounding areas to support local and visiting artists. A particular favorite place to visit for Liz was New York City where she and Chuck would take in as many Broadway shows, concerts in the park and Carnegie Hall performances as possible.

Liz also valued her private time and took solace in her home. Creating a loving home in the Frontier district of Erie on Shenley Drive, Liz enjoyed decorating and took great pride in her lovely home. She reveled in entertaining friends, family and coworkers with scrumptious dinner parties and extravagant spreads.

While she was the lead in many musicals and a frequent soloist, perhaps Liz’s greatest starring role was as mother and grandmother. Never wavering in her support, concern and kindness, Liz served as a role model for kindness and fearless self-expression. Giving her love unselfishly and providing undivided care, Liz influenced the interests and behaviors of her children and grandchildren while supporting their passions. They will sorely miss her.

Preceded in death by her mother Eleanor, sisters Kathleeen & Maureen Jones and husband, Charles Zebroski, Elizabeth is survived by her daughters Kristen Zebroski, Jennifer & Evan Enke, and three grandchildren Emelia, Eagan and Ellora Enke.

The family warmly welcomes flowers sent to Burton Quinn Scott Funeral Home, 602 W. 10th Street, Erie. A time of visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7p.m., with a celebration of Liz’s life to follow on Thursday, July 10, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. To honor Liz’s enduring celebration of arts in the community she loved, the family also invites memorial donations to Erie’s Neighborhood Art House: neighborhoodarthouse.org.
