Tejano Music & Dancing with my Uncle John A. Zuniga
My Uncle John A. Zuniga was a great teacher. Everyone that knows me knows that Tejano dancing is my only favorite and my only preferred dancing. I was about 10-12 years old when I learned to Tejano dance. He found joy in teaching me and my BFF/Cousin Jennifer A. Lopez how to dance. I remember we first placed our feet on his boots and then we learned to follow his steps all around my mom´s kitchen floor. He taught us to follow and to turn, spin and I remember him telling us how to move our hips and our feet. It was absolutely the best enjoyment!
Our gatherings were always loads of fun, food, music, and yes of course Tejano dancing! I will forever carry my Uncle John in my heart, in every step within my dancing, and with every memory.
Tejano Music genre in the 80s we use to jam to: Little Joe, Sunny Ozuna, Mazz, Elida, Ruben Ramos, Alfonso Ramos, La Mafia, Fama, La Fierbe, Emilio Navaira, David Lee Garza, Roberto Pulido, Jimmy Gonzalez, Augustine Ramirez, Freddy Fender, and Gary Hobbs.
Tio John, dance with our beautiful ladies: Grandmother Mary Cardenas Zuniga, Aunt Mary Isabel Zuniga, and Aunt Gloria Marie Zuniga in heaven for all of us!
We love you and will carry you all in our hearts forever!
