Johnathan David King Sr.

Johnathan David King Sr., a beloved father and devoted friend, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on July 10, 1947, in Sumter, South Carolina, Johnathan was a son of the late Roy Landrath and Clara Thompson King.

Johnathan proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was Vietnam Veteran who earned multiple medals such as National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, and the Purple Heart Medal, to name a few. Johnathan, dedicated the majority of his career to the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems.

A man of strong Christian faith, Johnathan found solace and strength in his beliefs, which guided him throughout his life Johnathan was a man of many passions, known for his love of the great outdoors and adventurous spirit, often spending weekends camping in nature or traveling the east coast, basking in the beauty of the sun as it lit up the ocean waves. His joyful heart and vibrant personality made him the life of the party, and he cherished moments spent with his friends and family, especially his sons. He was particularly fond of karaoke, relishing the opportunity to sing classic Elvis' songs, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him.

Johnathan's legacy will live on through his sons, Johnathan "John" David King, Jr. and Daniel Matthew King (Yen); four sisters, Gean, Ann, Gigi, and Melva; and three brothers Bob, Mike and Roy.

A graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veteran's Cemetery on 140 Inway Drive, Anderson, South Carolina, 29621.
