Johnetta Robin Dowdy was introduced to the world by her loving parents, John and Doris Taylor Dowdy on March 26, 1964. She transitioned to her Heavenly Home on January 13, 2025.
Robin, as she was affectionately known, attended Accomack County Schools and graduated from Onancock High School in 1984. She went on to study at Norfolk State University and Wor-Wic Tech, where she received her Nursing Diploma.
Robin dedicated her life to God and to serving others. She served in the capacity of a Nurse's Assistant and a Teacher's Aide, until her health began to decline.
When Robin's health no longer cooperated with her employment, she transitioned to serving her church family and natural family. At St. Luke AME Church, Robin served faithfully as a Trustee, Stewardess, and a member of The Willing Workers Ministry.
When she wasn't serving in church, she was pre-occupied with tending to her family. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, talking to her loved ones on the phone, attending family functions, and caring for Emalynn and Taylor affectionately known as her "Puddings." Robin also was a master at the games of Backgammon, Dominoes, and Spades. And let's not forget her love for shopping! Her greatest honor was caring for her mother in her later years.
Robin leaves behind on this side to cherish a lifetime of memories; her brother, John Taylor Dowdy (Michelle); god-brother, Vernon Williams; nieces, Shamara Williams (Kenneth) and Sakara Bey; nephews, Shomari Dowdy(Chyna), Myles Stone-Dowdy, and Marquis Stone-Dowdy; god-daughters, Centoria Fisher (Immanuel) and LaRhonda Fletcher; Puddings, Taylor and Emalynn Fisher; great-nieces, Kinsley and Kennedy Williams, Heaven, Angel, Artemis, and Aura Dowdy; great-nephew, Kenneth Williams, III; aunt, Marion Keesee; and a host of cousins.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Doris Taylor Dowdy and father, John Dowdy. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Johnetta Robin Dowdy, please visit our Tree Store.
