Johnie Caudill, Jr. Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rullman Hunger Funeral Home - Aurora on Jul. 30, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Johnie Darrel Caudill, Jr., 59, of Aurora, IN, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025.

He was born on August 8, 1965, in Lawrenceburg, IN, the son of Johnie Caudill Sr. and Linda (Hill) McElfresh.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army.

John was a union carpenter for over 10 years before an injury at work ended that career, and he mined into health care. His last decade of life was spent helping others through his work as a home-health aide at Res-Care of Indiana. He was as dedicated to his patients there as he was to his family, working tirelessly without remorse or regret while fighting his own battle with chronic kidney disease. John truly loved his job and cared deeply for his patients.

A man of faith, John belonged to Jesus. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. When John was younger, he was heavily into the JC Organization. His favorite memories were family vacations to the Smoky Mountains.

John is survived by his loving wife, Christine (Anderson) Caudill; his children: Stephenie Deakins, Ashley (Caleb) Kelly, Amberlee (Joe) Nowell, Katie "Boo" Engle, Brentson Caudill, and Machaelah Caudill; grandchildren: Cole, Michael, Tucker, Jaxson, Hadley, Aubree, and Clay; and great-granddaughter, Isabella. He is also survived by his parents: Johnie Caudill Sr. and Linda (James) McElfresh; siblings: Bobbie (James) Angerami, Jim (Angie) Huddleston, Brook (Michael) Gifford, and brother-in-law, Mark (Jeanne) Anderson; mother-in-law, Kathy Anderson; step-siblings: Gary McElfresh, Angela Hatfield, and Denice Osborn; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Howard and Gladys Caudill; maternal grandparents, Charles and Suzie Hill; father-in-law, Joseph Anderson; and brothers-in-law, Mike, Steve, and David Anderson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the American Legion Post #0235, 318 E. Indian Trail, Milan, Indiana 47031 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm, with a Military service starting promptly at 6:00 pm.

Contributions may be made to the family, c/o Christine Caudill, 11450 Gatch Hill Road, Aurora, IN. 47001
