Mrs. Sanders (affectionately remembered as Mrs. Mims) was my neighbor, church member and 3rd grade teacher. She instilled confidence in me and made me believe that I was as smart as anyone she taught and I could be anything I wanted to be - no limitations. Together we developed a slogan for the new Eaton-Johnson Elementary School Cafeteria and it read like this - "Lift the chair, don't slide it - Protect the table, don't ride it - Watch your manners." We won first place! She was God's gift to the many children who were fortunate enough to be in her presence in school, church or the neighborhood on Flint Hill.
