Johnny L. Ballard April 17, 1935 – October 11, 2025

Johnny L. Ballard passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at the age of 90 surrounded by his family and dogs. Born on April 17, 1935, Johnny was the beloved son of Alva Jackson Ballard and Gladys Ballard (Holbrook).

Johnny was a devoted husband to Carole Ballard (Barutello), and together they built a strong, loving family grounded in tradition and care. He was a proud father to Debra Ballard (McNamara; deceased) and Jack Ballard, and a loving grandfather to Kristin Doudt, Bonnie Ballard, and Kurtis Doudt.

He delighted in being a great-grandfather to Danielle Summerscales (husband Daniel) and Kristal Santoro, and was especially proud to welcome his great-great-grandson (and “bestest buddy in the whole wide world”) Finn Summerscales, into the world.

Johnny’s life was rich with the simple joys he loved most. A lifelong fan of NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys, he never missed a race or a game. He had a deep appreciation for war pictures and old Westerns, often found watching them in his favorite chair, and he took great pride in his yard and the animals he cared for over the years. His love for old country music was unmatched, he could often be heard whistling or singing classic tunes with heart and soul.

Above all else, Johnny cherished time with his grandchildren. Whether gathered for a holiday, a Sunday visit, or a quiet afternoon, those moments with his family were his greatest treasure.

Johnny was a cherished brother to Sara Grady (husband Carl), Billy Ballard (wife MaryEtta), and Alva Bob Junior Ballard (wife Vi). He was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews: Linda Kay Watson, Keith Grady, Cheryl Grady, Patty Lynn Wilson, Ronnie Ballard, June Ballard-Beard, Kim Ballard-Riggs, Sherri Ballard (deceased), and Lisa Ballard-Chatt.

Johnny Ballard’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and loyalty. His warmth, stories, jokes, and songs will echo in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, and forever remembered.
