Mary P. Burton
Age 85, of New Lenox, IL, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, October 13, 2025. She was born in Chicago, IL to the late Charles W. and Marie P. (nee Waters) Giblin.
Beloved wife of the late Frederick S. Burton; loving mother of Cathy (Larry) Freudinger, Michael (Ann) Burton, John (Jeanette) Burton, Judy (Loren) Hess, and Beth (Rich Czop) Burton; cherished grandmother of 17; proud great grandmother of 3; dear sister of Catherine Giblin, John (late Terry) Giblin, and twin brother of the late Charles (Dorothy) Giblin; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Mary spent her career as a secretary at St. Emeric School in Country Club Hills, followed by over 20 years at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing games, traveling, and spoiling her pets. Known for her quick wit, great sense of humor, and zest for life, Mary always made gatherings more lively with her entertaining stories and fun-loving spirit. Her love for animals was unmatched. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd, New Lenox, IL on Friday, October 17, 2025, from 4 PM – 8 PM. Funeral services Saturday October 18, 2025, with prayers at the funeral home at 8:45 AM to St. Stephen Deacon and Martyr Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM, followed by burial at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Orland Park, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate).
