In Loving Memory of Johnny Neal Hufford
August 1, 1955 – November 9, 2025
Johnny Neal Hufford, 70, of Smyrna, Delaware, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Born in Lebanon, Indiana, to John Porter Hufford and Neta Jeanine (Rood), Johnny was known for his kind heart, quick sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family.
He honorably served in the United States Army and the Indiana National Guard. Johnny remained active in the American Legion, Legion Riders, and The 40 & 8, proudly serving as Commander of Post 2 in Dover, Delaware. His dedication to service and community was admired by all who knew him.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Dianna Lynn Hufford; son, Joshua Hufford; daughter, Katherine Anne Whalen (Charles); stepdaughters, Kimberly Makara (John) and Catherine Fernandez (Michael); sisters, Karen Crusenberry (Sherman) and Lisa Hufford-VanCamp; nieces, Telisa Brewer (Paul) (child: Aiden) and Nikki Speer (children: Laney and Kenneth). He also leaves behind his grandchildren - Hayden, Alexa, Marty, David, Christopher (CJ), Connor, Brayden, Jessica (Christian), Hunter, Lauren, Marlaina, and Sophia - and great-grandchildren, Christian, Carter, and Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Porter and Neta Jeanine Hufford; his brother, Michael Hufford; and his first wife, Doris Hufford. Johnny shared a special bond with his beloved companion, Suzie Q, who passed away in 2024.
Johnny loved riding his motorcycle, spending time in his garden, and taking pride in mowing his lawn. He will be remembered for his warm smile, generosity, and devotion to family, friends, and community.
