Johnny LaMar

Johnny Lesilie LaMar, 78, of the Blake Road, Plattsburgh, died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.
He was born in Plattsburgh, July 17, 1946, the son of Leo W. and Phoebe M. (Parrish) LaMar. He grew up in Peru and graduated from Peru High School in 1965. He served his country proudly with the US Army, until his honorable discharge in 1968.
He married the former Donna LaVigne, February 24, 1968 in St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy.
Johnny was a NYS Correction Officer for 25 years, following retirement he was employed with Morrisonville Construction for 15 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his true joy was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters, whom he was very proud of.
Left to cherish his memory are, his loving wife of 57 years, Donna LaMar; children, Johnny and Siobahn LaMar, and Wendy and Jack Phillips; five granddaughters, Rachel, Jenna, Morgan, Abigail, and Emily; sisters, Theresa and James Collins, Bonny and James Devan, and Linda and Gary Hamel; brother-in-law, Ronald Sears; brother-in-law, Gary LaVigne, brother and sister-in-law, Neal and Shelly LaVigne, sisters-in-law, Sue LaVigne, Debra LaVigne, and Nancy LaMar; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his parents-in-law, Lyman and Leona LaVigne; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and James Bola; sister, Mildred Sears; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Carol LaMar; brothers, Adrian and Donald LaMar; brothers-in-law, Michael, Rodney, Richard and Albert LaVigne; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Russell and Patricia LaVigne.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025 from 10 to Noon at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will follow at Noon in the Hamilton Funeral Home chapel. Committal prayers, military honors, and burial will follow in St. Augustine's Cemetery.
