Johnny McDade 86 of Adel, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2024 after a brief illness. Johnny was born on June 28th,1938 in Milledgeville GA to the late William Francis "Pete" and Bonnie McDade and was 1 of 6 sons.
Johnny was married to the love of his life, Mary Helen McDade for 61 years and was a loving and supportive father to his four children. He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and enjoyed spending time laughing with them. His incredible sense of humor was contagious and lives on through his family.
Johnny was a lifetime supporter and fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and spent countless Saturdays in Athens GA cheering on the Dawgs with his family and friends. His enthusiasm for all things Dawgs was shared with all who knew him. He also enjoyed golfing and was an avid Nascar and Jeff Gordon fan.
Johnny was known for having a strong work ethic and spent his work life as a Grocery Buyer for Piggly Wiggly Southern in Vidalia, GA for 25+ years and later at JH Harvey Co in Nashville, GA, where he retired. Johnny was charismatic and never met a stranger anywhere he went. He has countless lifelong friends he cherished.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Francis "Pete" and Bonnie McDade and four of his brothers and sisters in law; Jimmy (Joan) McDade, Harry (Juanita) McDade, Roy McDade and Francis (Joanne) McDade.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Mary McDade; four children, Cindy (Todd) Wilcher of Vidalia, GA. Kaye (Jeff) Harris of Thomasville, GA, Wesley (Amy) McDade of Valdosta, GA and Wendi (Craig) Smith of Adel, GA,; 10 grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren; one brother, Harvey McDade of Milledgeville and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 1:00 pm at Purvis Funeral Home in Adel, GA. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 2263 Pineview Dr., Valdosta, GA 31602.
