Johnny Ray Reece, 77, of Chesnee, passed away on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Johnny was born on March 15, 1947, in Spartanburg, SC, a son of the late Mary Sarepta Corn Reece and Franklin James Reece, Sr. He was married to Margaret Fletcher Reece for 58 years. Johnny was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true friend to many.
A master electrician and licensed contractor, Johnny was the owner and operator of Reece Electric Company, starting his business in 1975. He was a Mason and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was of the Baptist faith.
Along with his wife, Johnny is survived by his 3 daughters, Angela “Angie” L. Bryant (Jonathan) of Spartanburg, SC, Michelle “Shelley” Reece Thompson of Chesnee, and Jennifer Johnnie “J.J.” Fowler (Buck) of Inman, SC; his 7 grandchildren, Daniel Thompson, III (Tara), Andrew Hampton, Alanna Hampton, Dylan Thompson (Kaitlyn), Reece Thompson (Ashton), RayAnn Frick (Jacob), and Fletcher Fowler; his 5 great-grandchildren, Aariah Thompson, Kennedy Thompson, Gideon Frick, Grant Thompson, and Walker Thompson, and his brother-in-law, Dewey Gene Fletcher of Spartanburg. Johnny was predeceased by his son-in-law, Daniel E. Thompson, Jr.; and his 4 brothers, Jimmy Reece, Billy Reece, Donnie Reece, and Jerry Reece.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral service will be held 12:30 pm Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Keith Davis. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Memorial Park, 4164 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
The family is at the home of Margaret and Johnny Reece.
