Johnny W. Shotwell

Johnny Wayne Shotwell, age 78, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on April 8, 1947, Johnny’s life was marked by his selfless nature, generosity and love of God, his family, and his country.

A proud graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau, MO, he chose to enter the United States Air Force after graduation, where he served for 4 years. While at basic training in San Antonio, he met his lifelong sweetheart, Anna Marie Gilbert. They were married on August 31, 1968. Johnny served his country with pride and was stationed on Okinawa, Japan in the Vietnam war as a Morse Code Interceptor.

Once he returned home, he and Anna lived in Shreveport, LA where he attended LSU-Shreveport. He and Anna later moved to Temple, TX where his two sons, John Raymond and David Allen, were born. They then moved to Crowley, TX in 1975. 

Johnny’s career spanned over 50 years and was most noted for his tenure at INFOR as an IT Quality Assurance Analyst.

Johnny’s life was a testament to his community as a City Councilman of Crowley, TX for 21 years. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Apache Warrior Foundation.

He was an individual of varied interests and found great joy in the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid motorcyclist, a corvette enthusiast and served the Gary Sinise Foundation with Snowball Express for the families of fallen soldiers for many years.

Johnny’s legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 57 years, Anna Marie Shotwell, his son, John Raymond Shotwell (Lynette), grandchildren (Emma, Ayva & Nicholas), his siblings, Bette Lynne Manuel-Banquer (Brett), Woody Seybert (Carol), Janet Yancey, Sharon Shackleford, and many cousins and aunts that he loved very much.

He is preceded in death by his son, David Allen Shotwell, his parents, Mozelle (Dale) and Raymond Shotwell, his birth father, Woodrow Seybert and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The void left by Johnny’s departure is felt deeply by all that knew him. Yet, we take comfort in knowing that his life was a well-lived life full of love, laughter and the selfless giving of himself to all those that he encountered.
