Johnny Smith Obituary
Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Johnny Wayne Smith, age 77, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Benson, NC. Rev. Glenn McCullen will officiate. Burial will follow in Reedy Prong Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton Grove, NC.
Mr. Smith was born on January 9, 1946 in Sampson County, NC to the late Hiram Smith Sr, and Thelma Tart Smith. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Byrd, brothers, Keith Smith and Kenneth Smith, Sr. Mr. Smith retired from the Lab at Chicopee in Benson, NC. He was a member of Benson Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Smith loved his family, hunting, fishing and softball.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Donna Gilbert Smith; son, Brent Smith and wife, Michelle; daughter, Leah S. Knight and husband, Jamie; granddaughter, Elizabeth S. Wall and husband, Luke; sister, Sherry S. Johnson and husband, H.M; brothers, James Smith and wife, Hilda, Hiram Smith, Jr., and wife, Wanda, and Stacy Smith and wife, Sylvia; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 6:00PM-8:00PM, Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed.
