Johnny Ray Vanderheyden

Johnny Ray Vanderheyden, age 80, of Centerville, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Centerville Specialty Care, under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice.

Johnny was born on July 8, 1945, in Brazil, Iowa, the son of Frank and Julie Ann (Starcevich) Vanderheyden. He was united in marriage to Linda Bone on March 31, 1969, in Centerville, IA. To this union of marriage, three children were born.

Johnny drove a semi-truck. His life was filled with simple pleasures- loving his family, taking walks, playing softball, and visiting with friends. He was known for his quick wit and great sense of humor and he never shied away from a good-natured debate.

Johnny is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years; his children, Shona Varese, Jamey (Sara) Vanderheyden and Nicholas (his girlfriend Julie) Vanderheyden; and 3 grandchildren, Zach Varese, Jullian (his girlfriend Sadie) Varese, and Ava Vanderheyden.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Julie Ann; a half-sister, Leona Kauzlarich; a sister, Loretta Campbell; and his brothers, Raymond, Ronnie, Ned, and Ted Vanderheyden.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
